Measles outbreak

If you are displaying symptoms of the measles virus please do not attend the practice in person. Always call the surgery first.

The first symptoms of measles include:

  • high temperature
  • runny or blocked nose
  • sneezing
  • a cough
  • red, sore, watery eyes

Followed by a rash that starts on the face then spreads to the rest of the body.

The rash looks brown or red on white skin. It might be harder to see on brown and black skin. Some people may also get spots in their mouth.

Vaccinations are offered free of charge in the UK – and you should receive notification when your child is due a routine vaccine by your GP practice.

If you can’t remember if your child has had their MMR vaccines, check their personal child health record (red book) and speak to us to book their first or second dose.

If you have any concerns that your child has not received their routine vaccinations, please contact us.
