DISTRICT NURSES

The district nurse visit patients who need nursing care at home. This service is now available 24 hours a day (under particular circumstances). The doctors or hospital make the initial arrangements for care. If you need to contact the district nurse please telephone Halifax 321486 where an answering machine takes messages when no one is in their office.

COMMUNITY MIDWIVES

Antenatal care is provided at the surgery by the community midwives, who can be contacted on 01422 251095.

TRAINING PRACTICE

We are a training practice and currently have registrars (doctors undergoing GP training) working on 4-month GP training sessions. We also have a Community Matron (Mrs Mills) who is undergoing her Nurse Practitioner course from September 2010 for two years.

If you are needing an appointment the same day, you may opt to make an appointment with these trainees. They have completed most of their training and have worked in their roles for a few years already and are gaining practical experience. Registrars have worked at Calderdale Royal Hospital for one to two years in various departments.

These trainees are competent practitioners in their own right but are still mentored by our GP partners, so if you do have an appointment with a trainee you are still receiving high quality care.
